A Summer of Learning

June 20th – 30th, 2024

I had an amazing time exploring the geology of the Galápagos Islands with GeoEtc., an organization that runs geology-based travel excursions. I explored lava tunnels, pahoehoe lava rock, volcano vents coated in sulfur, all while getting the opportunity to practice my Spanish-speaking skills. I’m looking forward to integrating what I’ve learned about volcanoes and igneous rocks into the geology curriculum for my fifth graders this school year.

July 15th – 18th, 2024

I participated in San Mateo County’s Environmental Solutionary Teacher Fellowship, where learned strategies for teaching climate change in the classroom through a solution-based lens. Over the next few months, I’ll be tasked with creating a climate change curriculum for 5th grade science students.

July 24th – 30th, 2024

I completed 20 hours of continuing education courses to renew my certification for Group Fitness Instruction through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), which also included an adult/pediatric CPR & AED course.
